It's the time when people are buying gifts surreptitiosly and we can't always take photos! So from our crime table, first books sold today were Harlan Coben and David Baldacci. Also in shot, The Bookseller by @timsullivanauthor.bsky.social which is Indie Book of the Month for December in the UK.
Time flies when you're doing all sorts of things you weren't planning to.

If it is a title and/or author we aren't already aware of or considering, 2/3 copies ordered is enough for us to look at stocking it. We're always looking at extending ranges, options for people. Supporting authors by ordering is a very simple way you can support both their work and the publisher.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

First sales of the day! One a collected customer order, Finding Alfie by Michael Morpurgo. And one postal/delivery order. This is from a local writer Ronnie Steele, a collection of memories from a host of people on Kes and Ken Loach. Ordered by phone to be delivered to a local elderly relative.

Maybe we should do a thread of reading-related injuries?! This was one of the books responsible. Apparently after walking a while if you sit reading for long enough, feet up on a chair in front of you, there is a risk of stretching your calf enough to hurt it. Hobbling day. Good book though!
