No one knows what my job means so I just say I spend all day making PowerPoints, which is basically true.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

I am reminded of one of those private jokes that couples / good friends have... I always say it as Plum Pudd (rhymes with mud) ing, thanks to a German (?) physics professor.

Thankfully Stephen is working hard to provide the answers I had the urge to, so I can just go straight to block for the eejits in the replies.
Neither ICE drivers nor EV drivers pay, or will come close to, paying the full cost of their road usage. But rightly both ICE and EV drivers should pay a share, just as rightly I pay a share in both taxes, and in ticket fares.

People who put "travelling" on their CV under hobbies. Just say you like going on holiday! Most people like going on holiday! Otherwise you sound like you forgot that you aren't a student any more.
People who feel bad at being called tourists are without doubt the most tedious people on earth to get stuck next to on a plane and it isn't close to close
Tourists are an interesting group in that they consistently deny what we all know they are. I can’t think of anything that screams tourist more than reducing each experience down to charm bracelet size and wearing it around. If tourism is your thing, just embrace it!

Yes! Libraries! and you can borrow e-books and audiobooks without leaving the house!
I’m just going to block anyone attempting to justify or excuse pirating books. Times are hard, yes, but absolutely NO ONE needs to steal books. Libraries exist. There are umpteen works legitimately in the public domain. You don’t need to take income from authors trying to scrape a living.

I take back everything negative I might have said about Manchester terminal 3. At least there you can get a sit down hot meal on an actual plate. This is my dinner in Lisbon's Ryanair terminal (it was this or Maccys)

My favourite bit of doing expense claims is definitely having to submit the same Pret receipt twice to split out the VAT-able and non VAT-able parts of my airport breakfast.

In 1582, a papal bull introduced the Gregorian calendar, still used today by most of the world. Because it’s 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar, countries introducing it simply skipped a third of October, and if you scroll back far enough in the iPhone calendar app you can see it change
