My aging scanner's software (not for iPhone of course, that dog will never hunt), has, perhaps, the greatest ever moment of UX:

I am blessed that I can ask Jeff Parker anything about Aquaman any day. He may not answer me but I can ask him.

It reminded me of Gérard DuBois' painting for the cover of Moby Dick. Astonishing also.

LOOK AT THIS CUTE VULTURE YOU GUYS
Yolo often stands with his little back toes crossed, which I find ridiculously cute!
You can see vultures don't have bulky feet and talons built for grasping/carrying like other raptors. Their more chicken-like feet are meant for bracing on food to pull at it with their powerful beaks, instead.

I kind of wondered what Spotify would say about my listening history.
Who else was too weird for Spotify to figure out? (I listened to Spotify while I was traveling, I listen to albums I’ve bought mostly directly from the artist if possible at home.) (Also I’m 58 but apparently incredibly immature)

Wait, British people, do you REALLY call flour tortillas “tortilla wraps” even though it’s just, you know, A FLOUR TORTILLA NOT WRAPPING ANYTHING?

I sometimes get people explaining my own joke to me but even more often I say something patently ridiculous and somebody explains that no, actually, you see, that couldn’t really happen. Apparently I write deadpan.

I just learned about the motor cortex homunculi so now you have to TOO. It's the ratio of motor and sensory innervation of the various body parts. And if it was a little guy, it would look like this.

I think this post is even better out of context.
Hogs don’t digest human hair or teeth, alas! A hog waste lagoon, however, is so unspeakably nasty that I’ve always felt if an FBI diver goes in, they earned the collar and I’ll go quietly.

Hyenas, as it happens, can digest teeth but not hair, so your best bet is to shave your victim first.

I'm having the weirdest time adjusting to my own life right now, you guys. My mom died in February, and I spent so many years as her caregiver that I am kind of like "what do?" about all this time and freedom I have. I miss her, but I also am so relieved? And I don't know what to do with myself.

Sometimes I think about drawing a weekly diary strip again, even though my last attempt never gained any traction. I still learned a lot doing that. Mostly that I didn't want to do a weekly diary strip. But I have this jotted down file of notes for strips kind of sitting here like constipation.

I'm up very early today. There were about a hundred crows outside mobbing something and I went out to see if I could find it (sometimes I can, usually it's a coyote or a hawk) but I couldn't see anything this time. The crows gradually flew off and I felt indescribably sad that I couldn't leave too.

I'm at Munich's 15th century Frauenkirche. This is supposedly the devil's footprint. He stomped in anger after seeing the architect had reneged on their deal to build the church without any windows. I see he wore sensible shoes over his cloven hooves...

Watched S5 E1 ("The Crawl") of #StrangerThings last night & was thrilled to see gorgeous examples of drill holes made by a yellow-bellied sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius) in the trunk of what's likely a loblolly pine (Pinus taeda); Will Byers (Noah Schnapps) for scale. 🧪🌲🪵🐦🕳️

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.
