I sort of wish this was the case because everyone is basically content with doing what we’re doing, but with solar energy. In my mind, if you support trains over cars, density over sprawl, or social housing, you’re a degrowther (laudatory)
half the loudest voices are pushing degrowth, which is probably worse than solar capitalism for the climate

1. Lit publishers are not interested in going to the kinds of conventions and trade shows where male audiences gravitate. They are married to the idea that their competition is female authors/readers/etc. This is BS. Their competition is video games + franchise TV.

The problem centrists have is that their ideology is ~75% an affective one. If you created a firebrand, these people would hate that on principle. Anything that inspires a mass movement is "unserious" in their eyes. It's a cult of inaction for inaction's sake

If cellular agriculture can become scalable, seafood should be the easiest to sell. No one likes eating fishbones, and sushi and shellfish have easy shapes to replicate

For sure. Harvesting scallops is like bulldozing an orchard for apples and then not replanting the trees
All things considered, seafood is the most environmentally damaging food type.

My theory is that GRRM is wedded to having a 7 book series, but can’t wrap it up that succinctly. Add onto that being way past retirement age, being rich as hell, and the show ending panned, he’s stuck in a vortex of demotivation

I'm glad I went to WorldCon today because someone just got up to the mic and told George R.R. Martin to his face that he's going to die soon and started to ask whether Brandon Sanderson would finish his books and everyone started to boo.
