Does anyone know why #Unity promotes #UnrealEngine?
So Unity recently decided that the tiny startup I dayjob for needed to upgrade to Industry at 5k/year/seat. We had no chance to contest it because they would have killed our only product. They even threatened people we worked with in the past with the same.

It's not just us.

Personally, I would recommend trying RenderDoc to have a better idea of the draw calls, overdraw, and source usage.

PCG is one of my favorite things of #UnrealEngine.
It offers numerous benefits and elevates games to a completely new level.
In my opinion, this represents the next gen of tool development.
You can get a lot more easy detail by scattering level instances instead of meshes and then leverage internal tag data for variation. It's how we have been approaching it at Epic! youtu.be/ncokCVoN-oU?...

People watch our GitHub submits so no point in being quiet. A chunk of our voxel research hit UE5 main today. Still very WIP but first time it’s coming out of a private stream. Some of it is building on prototypes I made 7 years ago now and talked about in my Journey to Nanite HPG talk.

Fun fact: Big game dev studios still use Maya as their main DCC tool, while indie developers are switching to Blender. It’s easy to see why—Blender is free, open-source, and constantly improving! With the gap narrowing, how long will Maya remain the go-to for industry giants? Share your thoughts!
