Hello Everyone; new friends and old!

I figured I'd make a first post and introduce myself! I've been working full-time in video games doing concept design for over 15 years. The last decade + at id Software! I've contributed to 15 titles and one animated tv show as an intern!

Long before we defined the look, feel, and story for Dark Ages, were were given a few weeks of time on 'blue sky' for the project. We were given the freedom to explore our ideas in the DOOM universe. Did not hit the final tone, but it was fun!

Before touching 3D or photoshop for this task, I did a series of pen-only drawings (no erasing!) for the Super Shotgun in DOOM: The Dark Ages!

I knew it would need to be lever action + we wanted a flint-lock weapon so it was a lot of creative problem-solving early on.

Grey tone added later.

We’re in a pleasant forest setting, with lots of greenery and the sun peeking through the canopy. We see tree houses made of natural materials on the trees. a heavypaint star wars fanart of luke skywalker and darth vader but i made both of them medieval knights. luke is on his knees in full armor with his face to us, leaning on his sword clutching the handle with his right hand in glove. there’s a green stone under his sword’s guard. he’s mostly hidden in shadow with a white spotlight falling onto half of his face and the upper part of the armor. the iris of the eye on the side of the face that’s hidden in shadow is red. there’s a crack on his breastplate, from his heart up towards his head. darth vader is just a red silhouette behind luke. his helmet is intact, but it’s fractured (it was also really easy to turn it into a medieval one). he’s standing in profile, hands in gloves on the handle of his sword with a red stone under the guard. digital drawing of three characters from dishonored games. corvo attano is sitting in an armchair with his daughter emily kaldwin on his knees, both of them sleeping. emily’s dreams are certainly lighter than her father’s, as she is slightly smiling in her sleep. she’s holding samuel’s carved boat in her hands. corvo is definitely tired as heck, as he definitely always is. his head is lowered down and his left hand is almost touching the floor. there are emily’s drawings and an origami steamboat on the floor below them. there’s a coat with a big collar fading down on corvo’s shoulders, and a silhouette of the outsider standing behind the armchair, like a suspicious guardian angel he is. a digital painting with three characters from kingdom come deliverance games standing one before the other: lady jitka, hans and henry. first comes lady jitka of kunstadt standing with her back to us. she is dressed in a dark reddish dress with white rim that slightly opens her shoulders, and a white waistband. she has black hair and warm skin and looks very delicate. next, standing face to face with her but looking sideways, is hand capon, her almost husband. he’s highest of the three of them, dressed is almost all white, with yellow hues. there’s somewhat lost look on his face. he holds jitka’s right hand in his left one up, but it doesn’t look like he’s doing it willingly. behind him, almost lost to the background and to the figures before him, stands henry. he’s holding his sword in his left hand, wearing a red glove. the blade of the sword stays between hans’ and jitka’s shoulders, not letting them come closer to each other. henry’s face is barely visible behind hans’ shoulder but he’s looking at jitka. not with hate, not with jealousy, more with acceptance and awareness. henry’s holding a wreath full of flowers and a red ribbon in his right hand. hans’ right one, instead of holding jitka’s, has found the wreath without having to look, and his and henry’s finger are touching. jitka knows. she’s looking down, trying to reach them with her fingers, but alas. that heart is already full. there are herbs’ silhouettes in the background. according to the list of plants with symbolism on wiki, here’s their meaning. astragalus for hans (your presence softens my pain), heliotrope for henry (emblem of faithfully devoted love), and rue for jitka (regret, sorrow, repentance, grace, clear vision , disdain). a heavypaint drawing of two figures in red light on a dark background. a girl is floating in the water with her back to us. it looks like she ended up where she is by accident, since she’s dressed up casually and she’s got her school bag with her. the mermaid is swimming up before her, tail is long and patterned. she doesn’t seem to mind the girl being there.
