NGL, my recent experiments with traditional art have me wanting to put my drawing tablet away in exchange for something like a desk easel, and to put my efforts towards learning how to make traditional art look good when it's scanned/photographed in.

CRPGs use prose the same way that Silent Hill uses fog - as a way to overcome the technical limitations of the format to deliver what you want (choices and roleplaying) without breaking the budget, both computational and budgetary

I think choice is becoming a victim of technological advances and player expectations. If you choose whether Bob or Jim live in a SNES RPG, you’ve got a different set of pixels and text boxes. Now you‘ve got a new set of voice lines, Hollywood tier animations, etc.

Thinking about it, the original Deus Ex may be the king of choice in a game with a story, because your choices are significant, linked to gameplay and unforced. From the very start, for instance, whether you use or avoid lethal force against the “terrorists” determines something about you.

A little different, but like… all of my vixens have invisible disabilities that they need to deal with. The kitsune all are negatively affected by their own magic. Main girl Hitomi is also quite autistic. Vanessa is ADHD.

It helps me with managing my own AuDHD to see how they manage.
