In California union welders seem to be able to make 6 figures plus OT. So it seems like the money can be good but yea idk if I am actually capable of doing a job that physical, I’ve never tried before…

Also, I’ve never been a morning person and laborers are often up at like 3am 😭

I have a lot of worries about what my job is going to look like when code is written for AI and not for humans anymore, idk if “maintainable” is the right word

It’s hard for me to imagine what that future looks like rn but it’s definitely making me uneasy the way my bosses are implementing it

Trades are also apparently not doing great rn? Idk man it’s really starting to seem like the only solution is “hurry up and die” because we’ve built a system where we can’t get the things we need/want without money and we can’t get money cause people aren’t considered worth the cost 🫠

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

For me it’s the fact I’m a woman and I’ve never been active/physical as a job, legit worried I couldn’t hack it…oh and the initial pay cut lol takes a couple years to get a livable wage…60k single in LA is not livable
