My heat pump equipment is 2 years old now. I'm in Ottawa, Canada, and have had no issues for either heating or cooling. My utility bills are lower now than when I was using natural gas equipment (by about $1K/year). The federal gov't provided a rebate and loan, making it even more attractive.
OK, my hope for humanity went back up a bar after watching this interview between @beynate.bsky.social and Rafi:

Facts alone don’t change the world, but stories can. That's why I put together this starter pack of climate writers and journalists who know how to translate science into narratives that people can feel, understand, and act on.

I'd go so far as to say there is NO empirical evidence to support the idea that the fall in public trust was (significantly) caused by less than ideal #scicomm.

Yes, missteps have been weaponized. But this is mostly about lies, spin, agendas, brand-building, & political identity.

Is anyone in Ottawa or nearby looking to buy a Sony camera, lenses, lighting set, and stands? Or bits thereof?

I'm selling the video pod equipment I bought last year, hardly ever used, because I gave up on trying to do TikTok and YouTube because I hate them.

Day 2 of our old kitchen table in place, one that's a normal height and doesn't require me to dangle my feet when eating.

Report: a 12-year-old Corgi can successfully jump and reach anything within 5 cm of the edge of this table, but needs me to retrieve a ball that's rolled under one of its chairs

Charlie Angus' Strong Views on the Pipeline to Nowhere

@CharlieAngusNDP is worried that the CDN-AB MOU will tear Western Canada apart.

We agree that @mark-carney.bsky.social Carney folded like a cheap tent in the face of Danielle Smith's demands.

And for what?

I don't live in Chicago, nor even in the US, but seriously? Seriously?
Letter to the Editor: Voters have a choice between Republicans who are committed to reforms that can make Illinois more affordable and Democrats who have presided over rising taxes and outmigration. Elections have consequences.
Letters: Illinois is not doomed to property taxes rising every year — if we end one-party control
There are lawmakers — and candidates — who put forward serious, workable solutions that can lower property taxes.

We need to do better, people.
When I criticize the Liberal government in any way at all, no matter how reasonable, my free and paid subscribers on Substack go down. This dynamic creates a perverse incentive, which I refuse to give in to.

But this is a major problem.

As concerned as I am about this issue, I so appreciate that we live in a country where we value informed decisions. Let's ensure we keep that, eh?
