I lived nearby in Oakland for 8 years and found this crossing terrifying. I waited, often a long time, for a break in traffic because cars did not stop for folks walking.

So glad it’s been significantly improved and appreciate my @bikeeastbay.bsky.social coworker Robert for making this happen!
Last year Piedmont was working on a pedestrian crossing upgrade at Grand/Linda. I was able to get involved & work with staff to upgrade it w bike left turn features as well, including a curbside waiting space & flashing beacon push button oriented to the street.
