Cover for Season to Be Witched by Susanna Shore. An illustration of a young woman in red shirt on a mint green illustration of a city. Book description of Season to Be Witched:

When your new boyfriend disappears after the first night together, a lesser woman would panic. Which I did.

Kane has disappeared and Phoebe knows exactly who to blame: Julius Blackhart, the evil mage who wants to take over London. And he’s abducted other mages too. They’ve disappeared without a trace, but Phoebe isn’t about to give up. Even if it means teaming up with a scary warlock and even scarier vampire.

Blackhart has achieved the impossible and hidden the mages where humans can’t reach. Getting there to rescue them turns out to be easy. Getting out; less so. And Blackhart has the upper hand—and new minions. So how to turn the tables and defeat him once and for all?

Join Phoebe and the gang of House of Magic as they journey to the unknown. Can they save the people they love in time for Christmas?

The project to publish Season to Be Witched has progressed to paperback formatting. This'll test my patience...

(Lol, the generated description of this gif said "yoda from star wars is smoking a cigarette and saying patience you must learn. 😆)

Alt: Yoda from Star Wars is using the force with his eyes closed and saying "patience you must learn."

Take a few minutes to appreciate Drew Struzan creating the original artwork for THE PHANTOM MENACE. Truly a master at work.

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable

You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

If you’ve followed the weird project of a new path into the park that’s been constructed outside our window, today, for the first time since July, when it stopped where the gravel ends, they came to dig the rest. We’ll see how far they get this time. 😆🤞 And if the pine survives. I doubt it will.
The line between the old dig and the new. New dig has damaged the roots of a pine that’s right at the edge of the path. Excavator digging the path.

I had to buy a new PC mouse yesterday. The clicker in the old one died. I liked the old one, it fit my hand perfectly and it had a silent clicker. There wasn't exactly the same mouse available, but the same maker and good enough shape. But it has a loud clicker and I'm already annoyed with it. 😆

🌳📏BONSAI BONANZA✂️🤏

Kyōto hosts 2 major exhibitions of bonsai each year at the Miyako Messe: the 'Nihon Bonsai Taikanten' (日本盆栽大観展) in autumn, and the 'Gafūten Shōhin' (小品盆栽 雅風展) in January, which focuses on bonsai so small they can be held in the palm of your hand.

Let's talk about what the process of submitting short fiction used to look like, shall we? And about what it looks like now.

Cached US Kindle giveaway: 6 copies of @maxgladstone.bsky.social's Dead Country: Book One of the Craft Wars Series, which I have and have read and have liked and have given out before. It's a *great* western, and Ma Abernathy is a truly frightening woman, and I love her.

Same. But it's annoying that for Smashwords, they'd optimised the styles perfectly and now with D2D they're completely useless.

Thank you. My German is nonexistent, so that's not for me then. 😆

Where is that book from and is it any good? 😀 I take it, it's only available as a physical copy, because I can't find it.

My hot take is that none of these are structure. These are all recipes that describe structure.

Structure is the Salt, Fat, Acid Heat of writing.

3-Act/Hero's Journey etc are recipes.

You can make great meals without using a recipe if you understand the principles of structure.

So #WritingCommunity how do we feel about structure?

Do you use the 3 act structure? The 5 act?

Hero's Journey? Save the Cat? Super Structure Method? Story Genius Method?

Something else?

What have you got?

I actively dislike D2D publishing system. It's absolutely impossible to make the book look presentable, as it completely ignores all formatting styles. Break in the text is set by two empty lines or everyting runs together. Templates are only wholesale to the entire book, no opt-outs anywhere.

Paddington was introduced #OTD in 1958 in A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON by Michael Bond.

"I felt it would say a lot about the Brown family that they were prepared to take in a refugee like Paddington," Bond said of the beloved bear from Peru, who was inspired by the displaced children of WW II. #BookSky

Today is the Ada Lovelace day

Go read Sydney Padua's Lovelace origin comic!

sydneypadua.com/2dgoggles/lo...
Black-and-white comic.

In the first panel, a text box reads: “Ada was the daughter of ‘mad, bad, and dangerous to know’ poet and nutcase Lord Byron.” The image shows Lord Byron dramatically wielding a quill while two distressed women cling to him.

The next panel shows Ada’s mother, Anabel, holding baby Ada with a worried expression. The text says: “Her mother Anabel fled the exploding planet her husband but was afraid their daughter would inherit his WILD BLOOD!!”

In the third panel, Anabel appears stern, saying, “ADA MUST NEVER BECOME POETICAL! Only ONE THING has the power to subdue poetry…”

In the final panel, young Ada sits wide-eyed, reading a large book titled “ADVANCED CALCULUS,” while the text concludes: “…MATHEMATICS!!”

A woman sits in a chair reading happily in a book-filled room.
 A voice offstage says
"You can't survive on books alone"
The woman replies
"Maybe I can!"

Panel Two:
"How?" asks the voice
"I don't know yet, but I'm sure the answer will be in one of my books." Says the woman

Panel Three:
Caption: However
The book is filled with yet more books.
A skull sits on the chair. It says
"I regret nothing!"
