It’s hard to imagine a Winnipeg without the WECC, a venue which is loved not just here, but right across Canada; countless touring artists built their careers there, and came to see it as home.

I just heard that Manitoba is going to be selling off the back stock of US liquor until Christmas, giving proceeds to the Cheer Boards in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Thompson - essentially dealing with the dormant product we’d already paid for in a way that benefits us locally. Genius idea.

Not only was the Granite Curling Club looking to veto the development of affordable housing, in their lease negotiations they were requesting subsidies & reimbursements amounting to over $800,000 annually, including rent reduced to $1, tax subsidies, building repairs & river bank stabilization.

My position is clear: I am unequivocally opposed to any new fossil fuel development — including LNG.

We must have the courage to say this to every government, of any stripe: if you’re building new pipelines or fossil infrastructure, this shall not pass.
