tired: great gatsby parties
wired: bastille day parties
Apparently there was a Gatsby party at Mar a Lago, while Trump is trying to kick 42 million off SNAP
I wonder why Hegseth didn’t just blow them all up first.

OK, regardless of source, credit where due: That's a great headline.
Kitty is handing out treats for the neighbor kids AND their parents.
Is that the same chandelier from the Mar-a-Largo bathroom?

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.

As an educator, as a fellow woman in science, I’m fucking horrified that Lia Smith who was just a year from
graduation felt her only option was to take her own life.

I lay her death at the feet of all the people hounding trans women athletes like her, you fucking monsters
Lia Smith was 21 years old and transgender and she should still be alive

It's not lost on me that the part of the White House we are destroying is the part that has to do with women's history in the White House.
NEW: NBC News confirms that the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, on the east side of the White House, has been destroyed as part of the demolition of the East Wing.

Also a lesson in why “debate me” is a sham exercise, designed only to platform and amplify purely shit arguments.

Donald Trump's wildly inappropriate reaction to this (quite impressive) piece of Reaganite advertising ought to cause so many people to view the ad he doesn't want them to see that we'll have to rename the Streisand Effect the Ontario Effect.
Ontario launches the perfect ad. Canadians are true brothers 💙🇨🇦

Washington Post editorial board: Right-wing idiots who also cannot spell.
I suspect that the tech moguls just fed him platitudes (you’re the best president EVER) and promises (we’ll give you more money and golden trinkets).

The best time to abolish ICE would have been in 2021. The next best time is if we win in 2028. At this point, any Democrat unwilling to abolish ICE must be drummed out of the primary.
ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

I’m less concerned about part of the White House being torn down, and more concerned about the fact that it’s being replaced with a $250m privately funded ballroom. I don’t think people who intend to leave office in 3 years typically spend a quarter of a billon on a 4 year construction project.
Are there any national security implications here? I’ve always sort of figured that the White House is like a giant Faraday cage to prevent snooping by baddies. If you just blast away a whole side of the building, does that compromise security?

I'm just a lowly art historian, but in moments like these I always think back to one early sign of Trump's wanton, pointless destructiveness: his demolition of the priceless & irreplaceable Art Deco relief sculptures on facade of the Bonwit Teller building, which he tore down to build Trump Tower

Seeing the White House torn apart is really emblematic of the times we’re in

The only thing that anyone ever needs to know about Bill Ackman is that he once joined a group of avid long distance bikers from NYC to Montauk and back without training or preparation, arrogant in his ability to "lead the pack" and ended up screaming in agony

Bluesky was never touted as a platform for civility. It was touted as a platform not owned by a eugenicist Afrikaner that was gleefully bringing back every Nazi account he could find in between ketamine rips
Yes, for sure - twitter and here. But here if you depart from a specific set of talking points it's very hostile immediately, whereas Twitter had more strands of the left. Also I just think it's so funny that blue sky was touted in part as a platform for civility.
