Not to make everything about Jewish summer camp but this reminds me of the time my unit head at camp told all the counselors we had to have an emergency staff meeting after the kids went to bed so we rushed through bedtime and ran out of the bunk really fast and when we got there it was six pizzas

This is going to end up being the most pointless and expensive "this meeting could have been an email" in history.

New details emerge on Hegseth’s unusual mass gathering of top brass
The defense secretary is expected to lecture about the “warrior ethos” for less than an hour, according to multiple people familiar with the event. But top generals are bracing for possible firings or demotions.

The President is now calling for RICO charges against a 95-year-old Holocaust survivor.

For those unfamiliar, Soros conspiracies are an antisemitic dog whistle, invoking the age-old myth that wealthy Jewish people are scheming behind the scenes to control the world.

#Trump
An August 27, 2025 Truth Social post from Donald Trump says "George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to “BREATHE,” and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!" At the time it was screengrabbed it has been "retruthed" 8,620 times and liked 35,400 times.

I'm so thrilled and delighted to have written the liner notes for Rhino's new reissue of the Replacements all-time classic 'Let It Be'. It's an LP which has aged beautifully and surprisingly, and this new set is wildly elucidating. Pre-orders available now, if you dare! pitchfork.com/news/the-rep...

I'm possibly more excited about this part of the re-issue than any other.

"Once you’ve heard about enough toxic behavior, the familiar pileups of sex and drugs start to feel less like a thrill ride and more like a dull narrative cul-de-sac." Over at the New York Times Mag, I wrote about the new, less icky nature of music docs and biopics. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/24/m...

The idea that Israel should ‘starve away’ the Palestinian people is disgusting and goes against every value we hold as Jews and as Americans.

Every leader should condemn Rep. Fine's abhorrent comments.

Treating criticism of Israel and Israeli policies as automatically antisemitic is absurd, and clearly undermines our ability to recognize and combat real antisemitism.

This attack on free speech and civil liberties undermines our fundamental democracy and makes Jews less safe.

Because of what’s happening in my own country, I feel inexorably drawn to the history of the Third Reich.

It’s not because I think Trump is Hitler. He’s not. It’s because that period (1933-1945) taught us so many important lessons about human nature that are relevant today. 1/🧵

A senior ICE official admitted that ICE is using Canary Mission to identify students to deport.

Let's be clear: Canary Mission — and its counterpart, Betar US — are extremist groups that do not represent the interests of mainstream Jewish America.
DHS used anonymous pro-Israel site to target activists for deportation, agency says in court
DHS said at a trial Wednesday that it used a list from the site, which has been accused of doxxing people whom it sees as being anti-Israel and antisemitic.

I know you’re new to Congress, Mr. Fine, but we don’t call our colleagues terrorists here. It just makes you look idiotic. At a time when MN Democrats have been targeted for assassination by a right-wing extremist, your rhetoric is seriously dangerous. Apologize now.

Some of my fellow Jews think a college kid wearing a kaffiyeh is a greater threat to their personal safety than an authoritarian government rounding up people to send to torture camps and the world's richest man who made a Nazi AI, and I'm really not sure what to say to them anymore.

Trump refers to bankers as "shylocks"

Have you ever heard Trump invoke any literary reference? No, because he doesn’t read or consume art in any meaningful way.

I imagine “Shylock” slipped off the tongue so easily because he’s been around people who’ve said it so casually for so long. Maybe even dad?

And that, friends, is our problem.

I really do think that if any other president used the word “shylocks” it would be on the home page of NYT.
