18 years clean and sober. Best decision of my life. My husband, my kid, my multiple careers all exist because I stopped drinking and doing drugs .

I wrote a play about the corrosive effects of the closet and how that shows up in conservative lawmakers. It’s called Model Congressman, and tonight it’s getting a reading at Capital Stage in Sacramento. It’s nice to celebrate this small victory in the midst of the world being on fire. #playwright

Young people are more tolerant than their parents when they’re left alone to grow and make their own decisions. That’s because it’s hard to hate trans people or gay people when there are so many in your class and they seem like ok people. So the bigoted adults have to keep kids in line.
