Hello all you new friends! I write, I read, I enthuse about various TTRPGS, and I'm part of the British Fantasy Society. My signature karaoke song is the Cutting Crew's I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight. My cat has 3 legs and a hard stare. I'm older than I look.

I love how even in a book officially published *tomorrow* the "Also by Adrian Tchaikovsky" page is already out of date... :)

I had the worst lunch. Honestly.

Maybe @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social could cover the rise in the far right, in racist attacks and, you know, the effect on millions of British people instead of platforming them every night

I'd settle for @theguardian.com doing even basic coverage of racism in the UK
Today I sat next to racists planning openly planning to murder people in a cafe
How have we come to a place where racists can openly talk about murdering people in public with no consequence?

"oh, but it can't happen here."
And yet...

And here's the bloody police calling Palestine Action terrorists.

If you don’t need convincing that women can fight, this collection is for you.

And if you do need some persuasion, this collection is also for you — though you might end up a little more paranoid than before, as not all fights are direct confrontations or fairly fought.

"BRING ME HOME" is near future, earth-based science fiction novella about women making unwise decisions that could affect the entire world, and beyond.

Buying links for the UK and Internationally here:
wizardstowerpress.com/books-2/nove... or search "Wiz Duos book 2".

#sciencefiction #book
A diagonally split graphic. Text reads "Two sisters, separated by a whole world." The book title, larger, "Bring Me Home." Smaller text right, "a novella by" and Scottish author "E.M. Faulds", beneath reads, "and no one is coming to save them". Left-top side is a photgraph of a woman dressed in black standing in profile at sunset. She's high up at a viewpoint over an urban, hilly landscap with some water visible far below. Right-bottom is a photgraph of a woman in profile and upside down in the desert daytime with a white sky and sand visible behind. She wears a white baseball cap and flannel shirt over white tee shirt. Both women look serious. In the bottom left corner is a thumbnail of the Wiz Duos 2 book cover and tiny text "search Wiz Duos book 2 in online book stores and wizardstowerpress.com"

1. Spooky (as fucked up, grounded in folk practice, embedded in particular landscape, and haunting as I can manage)
2. Careworn (often with an underlying skeleton of steel or past violence)
3. Scheming (let me do Intrigues™️)

United, undeterred and unafraid, trans people rally over court ruling
Thousands gather in London’s Parliament Square to protest at judges’ decision
The Observer20 Apr 2025James Tapper

LEFT Crowds gather outside Parliament in a huge show of unity and solidarity.
After last week’s supreme court decision, activists had been worried trans people might become fearful of going out in public in case they were abused.

They weren’t afraid in London yesterday. Thousands of trans and nonbinary people thronged Parliament Square, alongside families and supporters waving baby blue, white and pink flags to demonstrate their anger at the judges’ ruling.

The numbers seemed to take the organisers and police by surprise. Protesters from a hastily assembled coalition of 24 groups gathered in a ring against the barriers surrounding the grass and began speeches. But after the roads became clogged with people, a woman wearing a “Nobody knows I’m a lesbian” top ran across with her dog and soon the square was full. “It’s one hell of a turnout and there is a really strong sense of unity and solidarity,” said Jamie Strudwick, one of the organisers. “I think it’s impossible to compare it – it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.”
