Seemed too rote to say Spinal Tap for the favorite comedy prompt earlier, but it's Spinal Tap

"You won't understand what's happening on the right if you're not there!" Perfect
"Come back to this festering pit of rage where the contestants are all busy eating themselves! They must be shown sanity!"

Nah.

Kids today didn’t get to buy DVDs during the dot com boom when one could find a $20 off promo code for reel(.)com practically every week. Golden years for collection building

👏 watch Emma Mackey in EMILY if you think having her play characters with nearly her own name is such a bad idea

Carnegie Mellon’s literature PhD is being liquidated in favor of “computation,” casualized labor, and AI.

That has profound ramifications for, students, faculty, and program alums like myself.

I wrote it about it (w/ Catherine Evans, a current PhD student).

Letterboxd has indie theaters and fests running an ad before every show in exchange for an HQ page. How theaters reach patrons via HQ pages is ???. Looks to me like a one way funnel, and now LB promotes it's own digital rentals. LB is so far a net good for filmgoing but I wouldn't run their spots.

This film got slept on last year and it’s easily one of the best Christmas movies of recent times. A mix of Sirk, Altman, Mekas. Shot by EEPHUS director Carson Lund.
Tyler Taormina’s CHRISTMAS EVE IN MILLER’S POINT (2024) screens on a 35mm double bill with Charles Poekel’s CHRISTMAS, AGAIN (2014) TONIGHT, Wednesday December 10th, at 7:30pm & 9:45pm, respectively. Charles Poekel will join us IN PERSON, schedule permitting, to introduce.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Tomorrow night, Pittsburgh -- a special one
J.T. Vale was a South Side cinephile chasing the sublime. We close this season of Essential Pittsburgh with the results of @fleamarketfilms.bsky.social's seven year search for his surviving works. This trailer features scenes from the euphoric "Steelers Riot" (1976).

1) Half of them look like tv evangelists and half look lost. 2) A low quality composite suggestive of slop even as it's not. 3) One can't not imagine them falling.

This is positive checkout line propaganda
this feels like they're all being trolled. person of the year but that recognition has never inherently implied honor imo
