Well change of plans. I just got a 925 for ~$410 after a 20% off with PayPal promo. I'd end up spending more building my own and I want to try the Synology Drive software to replace my $10/month to Google cloud.

Miiight build my own since people say the Synology ones are overpriced. Either way I'd be taking my externals out of their housings and putting the bare drives in the NAS internally

Yeah, and if you’ve got SSDs you have fewer problems to solve than me. I have these slow mechanical HDs spinning. But I need the space

And depending on RAID setup in the NAS, it could stream faster. Although I don’t think crazy speeds are needed for 4K
