we're gonna deal with a wave of mad posts about this but tbh what this means is that wikipedia is forcing corpo AI chatbots to pay license fees for the use of their content. which they, up til now, have just been taking for free, regardless.

i've noticed that stories from SA have always inspired some kind of fantastical desire to have been there in people too young to have had ten dollars during its heyday. now adults, they treat it as a crypt to be explored for artifacts to back up the old tales they've heard all their lives.
someone has got 1.3 million views on a video where they narrate posts from a thread in the late 00s where we made fun of one of the mods on SomethingAwful building his stupid house, i genuinely cannot understand why anyone who wasn't posting on SA at the time would find this so fascinating
