As agents were driving away, they pointed a pepper ball gun and then a real gun at Chris Gentry, a combat veteran who was lawfully standing on the side of the road. The agent who pointed the real gun at Mr. Gentry’s face said “bang, bang,” and “you’re dead liberal.”

3d Modeling a Wonderswan headphone adpater
If you’re not aware, the WonderSwan didn’t have a built-in headphone jack. Kind of like the Game Boy Advance SP, where using headphones required a special accessory. Unfortunately, headphone adapte…

Check out my new post! I tackled the MMC5 NES cart by creating EEPROM adapters designed to work with any mapper. The PCB design still needs some tweaking—see why in the post!
Famicom MMC5 Boogie
Bandit Kings of Ancient China is one of my favorite games. It’s a strategy game, which makes it a bit of a weird fit for the NES. Originally released for the PC-88 and later ported to several other platforms, the fact that Koei brought it to the NES is one of the reasons I appreciate it so much. I’ve always been a fan of ambitious ports.

In this post, I take on the challenge of creating a custom PCB for a GameShark. I encountered some issues, but in the end, I learned some things about the inner workings of the GameShark and honed my skills with KiCad.
Gameshark Sleeper
I'm sure you're aware of a GameShark, but what you might not know is how important the software is on each revision. The GameShark on the left is an earlier version, 2.1, made for the DMG and Pocket. The one on the right is version 3.1, designed for the GBC. There were other versions, including the "Crystal" edition, which was advertised exclusively for Pokémon.

I first discovered this game on a PlayStation Underground demo disc. Years later, I created a Japanese PSN account to download and play it on my PS3. Now, many more years later, I finally own the actual game.

A DIY WonderSwan flash cart.
In this post, I take a donor WonderSwan cartridge and install a flashable EEPROM, turning it into a reprogrammable game cart—albeit a bit cumbersome.

Finally a new blog post! In my latest post, I focus on the dual floppy drive installation in the PC98 Cx3.
Welcome to the dual floppy life
There's not much documented on the English-speaking internet about the PC9821 Cx3. I know of exactly three Cx3 owners in the PC98 Discord, and for one of them, English is a second language—so it can be tough to get info on these machines. If my Discord associates don’t have an answer, I’m pretty much out of luck. Fortunately, the PC98 community as a whole is incredibly helpful.

Laser Focus: Reviving the PC Engine CD-ROM² with a Discman Twist
When I bought the PC Engine, it came with the Interface Unit, CD-ROM², and the v3.00 Super System Card. I won the bundle on Yahoo Auctions. Since it was sold as untested, I expected a drive issue and figured it would likely be the middle gear on the tracking motor—that part always breaks on these drives. The PC Engine system worked, but the CD-ROM² wouldn’t read any discs and kept making a constant clicking noise.
