The #Budget2025’s extended freeze on tax thresholds means from April 2028 people will pay more in these taxes than they otherwise would have.

So our Government Tracker’s now rating Labour’s pledge to “not increase taxes on working people” as ‘Not kept’.
Has the government kept its pledge not to increase taxes on ‘working people’? – Full Fact
Full Fact looks at Labour’s manifesto commitment on taxation, which has led to much debate over the meaning of the phrase ‘working people’.

It’s not often that I find a slightly different 7-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), so it was good to see one today with very reduced central spots! #VC40Ladybirds

Soil sealing is the permanent covering of the soil surface with impervious materials such as concrete or asphalt, tar seal, and buildings or other structures that cannot be easily removed.

Soil sealing: easy to do, hard to undo.

We're definitely overthinking this. Definitely vibes of 'for the last 5 minutes of this PPE tutorial, I'd like you to make a counterintuitive argument that a budget is "unchristian"'

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.

The PCR positivity map is out, and UKHSA is reporting English national positivity at 2.3%.

Adjusted for non-reporting, it's actually 3.53% - not as low as it was in January/February, but as low as in March.

In Scotland it's 2.67%.

It seems to me that the pre-covid paradigm has been inverted.

We no longer have "flu season" for a couple of months in winter.

The norm is now year-round respiratory disease with an "off-season" of a couple of months.

This year, that was in spring.
