If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.

A lot of straight romantasy does not appeal to me, in that I am not into the Dark Broodmaster 3000 type, but that’s a lot of books lately I happen to run into. I read one with dragons on the cover and the dragons did not appear til the last fifty pages which is rude

it's just so clear how bad media illiteracy is and how like at least 75% of grown adults do not understand that fiction and reality are different which is why they can't understand that because they watch an actor in a tv show they don't just automatically get to know everything about the actor

Also remember that overhead usually means like the people working there get paid a living wage and have the tools they need to do the work 🫠 overhead is not a bad thing. People paying poorly means high turnover and stressed out people trying to duct tape things together doing good work
