Interesting read on Carney’s climate long game.
Some climate advocates have sounded surprised by Mark Carney's decision to prioritize the industrial carbon price -- and set aside regulations in favour of markets and capitalism.

They probably should have followed his work more closely. #cdnpoli

Mark Carney’s grand bargain on climate shouldn’t be a surprise
The prime minister seems determined to pick better political battles on climate policy than his predecessor. Time will tell whether they produce better results.

It's Black Friday. Boo. There are no discounts on our wonky football shop. We have however not raised our prices in 6 years, which feels like a long time when [gestures at everything]

So yeah, ignore Amazon and buy something weird from somewhere small. Like us! Or someone else!

For anyone wanting to better understand the demise of Valour FC, this is pretty accurate by my experience.
This shouldn’t be the story of Valour FC.

But Wade Miller and WFC didn’t care, they let the club spiral without giving even half a look.

Valour’s sad demise should be attributed to nobody but Miller and Co.

My op-ed:

God I am listening to @aoc.bsky.social unapologetically celebrating cities -- urbanity, diversity, creativity, decency -- and it is giving me life.

After Winnipeg’s last election, and now this, I am beginning to believe municipal elections should look at ranked ballots - at least for the position of mayor.

Just over a quarter of the popular vote is no mandate for the most important role in city government.
Calgary - Mayoral Election Results:

Farkas: 26.1%
Sharp: 26.0%
Gondek: 20.5%
Davison: 13.6%
Thiessen: 11.6%

I saw my first Mercedes Econic garbage truck in Newcastle the other day and was so excited! This is the kind of vehicle we should be demanding in Canada to stop the killing of pedestrians and cyclists. Canada has hewed to the USA safety standards, but now is the time to go our own way.
Canada should make side guards on trucks mandatory; the usual excuse no longer works
Now that we are plotting an independent course from the USA, it’s time to develop our own safety strategies and standards.

Great story by @scottbilleck.bsky.social. Governments really need to triple down on this type of work. It’s making a difference.
When two Winnipeg encampments that had more than 30 people living in them were about to be cleared earlier this summer, outreach groups, government officials and housing facilitators sprang into action.
