You’ll hear some pearl clutching from the Tories today. They should’ve invested in SEND or RAAC schools they left to crumble, instead they frittered cash away.

The Tories once claimed to be the party of pragmatism. Today, that mantle belongs to Labour.

Tory governments spent £325m on free schools that failed or disappeared
More than £10bn was committed to building new schools between 2014-15 and 2023-24, compared with £6.8bn for rebuilding existing schools

Shaun Knowles, #Reform Councillor in Northumberland.

Has so far been paid £9340 for his 'work'.

His 'work' - in SIX months - has consisted of sending just TWO emails, and attending ONE meeting which was to discuss why he hadn't bothered to show up for the previous EIGHTEEN meetings.

All weeks deliver under a Labour government. Some weeks, like this one, are outstanding. Protecting workers in the Care sector and a new Strategy for our young people and the launching of GBR. I applaud this government. We need them!

Lovely tribute to The Lady Killers but what's striking is how much better almost everything looks today.

70 years of The Ladykillers: how the locations look today
As the classic Ealing comedy turns 70, we went walking around King’s Cross to see whether Alec Guinness and his motley band of robbers would recognise it today.

When I was a child I entered a colouring contest and my mum got my nan to post me a toothbrush, pretending I'd won it as a prize. I hadn't thought about this for years but I see that Trump has been awarded the FIFA Peace Prize and for some reason it came into my mind.

This amendment would force every applicant to provide a negative pregnancy test – regardless of age, sex, or medical condition – a requirement that is medically baseless and needlessly cruel. It is a wrecking amendment, and it lacks all common sense #AssistedDyingBill.

I've just seen the WI trans statement. I strongly support this government's domestic policies but what's is now happening to trans people, a tiny minority, is shameful and indefensible. www.thewi.org.uk/media-centre....

Rightly lots of debates about growth this weekend - rightly because it was low productivity growth that saw wages entirely flatline during the 2010s.

Here is the latest update on this Labour government's achievements (including the Autumn Budget 2025):

This government has Nationalised the railways and British Steel, allowed for locally owned buses, created GB Energy, the National Wealth Fund, and created the National Housing Bank.

It's not a high drama budget, though some commentators are screeching that it is a far left tax raid on working people. Again and again, people get upset if public services aren't there for them then are furious when they're expected to contribute.

This is a long and laudable list and what is in the media? - tax goes up and Starmer out. Let's hope people see the improvements in their lives and in services and come to the right conclusion. Do I think this government is perfect - definitely not - do I fear an alternative - definitely.
What spending was announced / funded / committed to in the 2025 Budget?

It's a long list - and likely incomplete, so will add more if I hear of them!

+ recommits to £120bn public investment across the Parliament

+ doubling local roads funding - now over £2bn

Budget Day, and I'm confident that although it probably won't go as far as I would want it to in taxing the fantastically rich, it will do something. I hope there's something that helps people live in safe, secure, affordable homes. Just now the housung is problematic from top to bottom.
