Quiet New Englander, still ill-suited to this format but loving it anyway. Scale modeling, wargaming, history, overly complex PC gaming, jeremiads.

Hello! today is 🎂🎉MY BIRTHDAY! 🎉🎂

For my birthday, plz read what is up of my webcomic/signal-boost this skeet? It would mean a lot to me!

Only 50 pages so far. It hasn't updated in ages, but I'm still working on it. Updates will resume when the backlog reaches 50 pages.

If you were to tell me in 6 months time that every quote I'm reading from This Book today was part of a "Naked Came the Stranger"-style literary hoax, I would not be surprised.

Went out to a gallery opening and then dinner. Chatted with people, laughed, had a good time. The self-doubt should show up any time now.

Re-education camps for ticket scalpers and other practitioners of retail arbitrage.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

A spray painted circle labeled "CBYD" in an empty field is...worrisome.

As silly as it sounds, Snow Crash taught me as much about reading like an adult as any class I took in my primary education. From my initial teenaged "books can DO that?!" surface level read to the satisfaction of understanding historical contexts, themes, and motifs in fiction in later years.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Full metal jackass.
I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:

"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my Grace shall deal"

Let the Hero born of Woman crush the Serpent 'neath his heel.

Today's experiment, the Barnum. Cribbed from a dodgy 1980s cocktail manual, but it's good.

1 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz apricot brandy
Several dashes lemon juice
Several dashes Angostura bitters.

That feeling when you take off your glasses and see how awful the lenses are and then can't unsee it until you wash them.

Ate the last outdoor meal of the year (hotdogs and baked beans) with the lights off as I leaned back and watched the clouds whip through the dark sky. I listen to Danse Macabre while doing this.

Happy Halloween!

Idea: left wing comic tracts to give to people who come to the door wearing Potter stuff or other suspect "costumes."

A haunted house, but my pile of unbuilt models has simply become self-supporting and has interior space.
A haunted house, but it's just an aging bottle labeled "solvent" in the fume hood of my lab.
A haunted house but it’s just my email’s inbox

I personally don't feel intimidating, like a 3, but apparently being big and quiet makes me read more like a 6 or 7 to people.
