Caerphilly is one of those names that really bugs me. I mean, it's just a misspelling of Caerffili isn't it. It's not a translation. And they're pronounced the same. There are a few places like that, and they put both names on the signs. It's silly. Just take the "English" version off.
We're doomed.
With ministers considering dropping pledges to remove almost all fossil fuels from the UK's electricity supply by 2030, in order to keep down, our poll finds Britons back this approach

Priority is keeping bills down: 65%
Priority is removing fossil fuels: 23%

This just rubber stamps that thinking there’s huge waste in local authorities is political illiteracy.

15 yrs of austerity has stripped all services to the absolute bone, there’s not really anything left to cut other than cutting back essential services even further.

Reform is absolutely clueless.
Nigel Farage promised that Reform councils would cut local government "waste" in order to slash taxes.

Now the party's flagship Kent administration is set to actually raise taxes and has just started asking opposition parties for help after failing to identify the millions in savings they promised

Exclusive: Nigel Farage's struggling flagship Kent administration is now reaching out to other parties, after failing to identify the millions of pounds in savings they promised

Need people to understand the difference between "this is a social construct" and "this is not real"
Isn't that pretty much everyone?
it's just so so mad and evil, as I pointed out yesterday!
Clearly, I wasn't interpreting it wrong.

I'm not sure the rake stepping analogy works for Starmer because Side Show Bob didn't lay all those rakes out himself, on purpose.

Ex-inmates say Welsh speakers were made to use English at Wales' biggest prison.

If R*form win today, they'll have momentum behind them and everyone will believe taking the Senedd is possible, making it more likely.

If they come second, the story will be "so close lads, we'll get them next time" and there'll be a big push behind them.

Either way, they get all the attention.
I'm pretty sure by-elections didn't use to be terrifying.

Compare & contrast Rory Stewart on #Newsnight, loyally 👑 dismissive of Prince Andrew “stuff” from 20+yrs ago… but, very much concerned about grooming gang victims from 40+yrs ago.

Those exact words of concern are interchangeable with the victims of the ALLEGED Andrew-Epstein-Trump++ grooming gang.

Plaid Cymru today held a debate on coal tip safety.

Not a single Reform MP bothered to turn up.

As they head to the polls tomorrow, voters in Caerphilly should remember how little Reform care about Welsh postindustrial communities.
As we remember Aberfan, we are reminded that Wales’ coalmining communities still live in fear of another disaster.

While Reform are calling for the reopening of Wales’ coalmines, they couldn’t even be bothered to show up for this debate on the safety of our coalmining communities.

I really think people are underestimating the degree to which 21st century politics are going to be apocalyptically bad; we are collectively sliding towards mass ethnic cleansing being the norm in the Western World, out of no reason but pure fucking spite and empty nostalgia.
Tory policy is to revoke permanent residence (ILR) for everybody who does not earn £38k - deporting most nurses who have ILR

This is put in the video as "who is unlikely to contribute more than they cost"

NB: video does not say EU settled status is exempt

No govt since Idi Amin has done this

The thing that makes Star Trek utopian isn’t the end of scarcity or the harmony between all peoples it’s also that the guy on the ship who gets laid the most plays the trombone at work and periodically does community theater

Something deeply dysfunctional in British journalism. Political editors sent to cover specialist stories. Treatment of policy as "nerd stuff". Elevation of "balanced debate" over representative coverage. It's all horse race and lack of introspection, or accountability.
The one decent thing Reeves has said, and these gits don't like it.
Why are these "think tanks" filled with such awful people?
