Oof. Well, the choice of whether to buy a ticket to see her or India Ramey got a lot easier
At the dentist/oral surgeon office, and I cringed when a middle aged guy walked out and announced "no cavities!" But 3 receptionists and an assistant cheered and clapped for him and it was so heartwarming and now I'm a little emotional. Maybe we need more clapping and cheering for little victories
That's a great book - feels like just hanging out with them and hearing them tell tales of their lives. And Bobbi's last album with Amanda Shires is great too - very soul-healing
I'm just back from Toronto and thought the same thing. It's like Chicago, if public works were adequately funded
Waffle Sticks is a pretty good band name
Agreed. Seems somehow like a cousin to Glenfern from Total Freedom (my fav on that album)
Listening to that album over the weekend, here's a line that made me stop and listen closer: "Here's the truth wrapped up in a lie / I never cared, I never tried" Damn. And the whole song is great (Say Goodbye, Tell No One)

I-kons, You-kons, Mekons!
The sun sets behind Warren Haynes on the final night of the Blue Ox festival
Check out this fab new album, the debut full-length from Rah Rah Rabbit, and my review for The Amp. "Sassy, irreverent, head-nodding and butt-wiggling good fun, filled with hard-won truths and glimpses of life not far from either side of the poverty line." turnuptheamp.com/home/2025/6/...
what a terrific young songwriter
Lord knows Summerfest has its flaws, but holy hell - a 9-day pass is $130. Most 2 or 3 or 4 day fests start at $250 and go way, way up from there. And you're not stuck in some godforsaken field
Ah, thanks, missed that. Right before Machado's homer
Why pinch hit lefty Collins for lefty Bauers (vs lefty pitcher)?
deja vu again and again and again... I was working in a newsroom 15 year ago when we were all "pivoting to video" because that's where the money was and it turned out the video views were wildly inaccurate and oh look I guess the money isn't there
worse yet, sometimes they get elected
Favre and Rodgers are the quintessential examples of why you should never name your dog after a sports hero

It doesn't get reiterated enough that "human on a bicycle" is not only the most efficient way that a person can move, it's the most efficient form of motion ***ever observed in land animals***.
