Julie Gray, wife of Holocaust survivor Gidon Lev, who joined Musk in his visit to Auschwitz speaks out. She says that Musk felt nothing during the tour & only "cared about how he looked."

She shared this with me privately shortly after the tour, and I'm grateful she made her thoughts public.

I see people posting that Elon was at Auschwitz this time last year - therefore, his recent "gesture" is not antisemitic. I was there, too. Last year. With Elon. I am embarrassed that I have photos of this on my phone. My love, Gidon Lev, was the "special guest" of this photo-op event. We thought, at the time, that it would be good publicity. But I would not share the photo today. I chatted with Elon Musk. I spent hours with him and walked with him through Auschwitz. I stood with him, looking at the nauseating heaps of hair, luggage, and shoes flooded with violet light meant to preserve it.
Is Musk an antisemite? People, actually, it's worse - he doesn't care whatsoever. Elon, father of "little X" as he described his freezing cold son to me, literally does not care. He was unmoved by the experience. For Gidon, to be in the place where his father, Ernst, died on a death march - whether shot by the side of the road or having simply collapsed - was a huge deal. Elon did not care. He was about his press junket and his bodyguards. I was ten feet from him as he posed for the cameras of his entourage. He was utterly detached. He cared about how he looked. When he placed a wreath at Auschwitz and Gidon was overlooked, he walked away with the cameras whirring. This is Elon Musk. A sociopath, if ever there was one. To deduce, from this visit, that he is a friend of the Jews is desperately naive.

The National Archives are pivoting heavily into open white supremacy. Stuff like this has been happening at an increased clip for several years now. The fascism is baked into our institutions. We need to recognize that.

They argue that ‘Visitors shouldn't feel confronted’. This is pure erasure.

An exhibit dedicated to "patents that changed the world" replaced the birth control pill with, of all things, the bump stock. And King was replaced with Elvis!
Incredibly, this is a Biden appointee who is apparently trying to make sure the facts don't hurt right-wing feelings.

U.S. Archivist Colleen Shogan and her top advisers at the National Archives and Records Administration, which operates a popular museum on the National Mall, have sought to de-emphasize negative parts of U.S. history. She has ordered the removal of prominent references to such landmark events as the government's displacement of indigenous tribes and the incarceration of Japanese-Americans during World War II from planned exhibits.
Visitors shouldn't feel confronted, a senior official told employees, they should feel welcomed. Shogan and her senior advisers also have raised concerns that planned exhibits and educational displays expected to open next year might anger Republican lawmakers— who share control of the agency's budget-or a potential Trump administration.

Shogan's aides offered several explanations for removing the photograph of Dr. King and adding one of Nixon clasping hands with Elvis. One was a reluctance to feature activists.
Senior officials also raised concerns that visitors might not recognize King, and they said there were too many other people in the photo, current and former staff said.
