people who are new to the city or young don't realize this but when uber & lyft started taking off traffic just got astronomically worse in a period of like 3 years, all those burrito taxis and unregulated cabs really get in the way of everything

Chicago street vendors are being targeted by ICE & Border Patrol agents. As a result, many are staying home and not able to work. Preorder and $8 per shirt will go towards the Street Vendors Association of Chicago who offer financial assistance to vendors who stay home.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

A different video captured after agents unleashed tear gas showed plumes of smoke billowing down the street as the crowd's piercing shouts and whistles reached a fever pitch.
Onlookers scurried to the sidewalk to get away from the chemicals, with one neighbor, Brian Kolp, seen walking away barefoot and in Chicago Blackhawks pajamas.
Kolp, 41, said he was drinking coffee on his couch and watching the news as he always does on Saturday morning when he saw what's become an all-too-familiar scene unfold outside
his window.
Two U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents were tackling a man to the ground on his front yard.
Meanwhile, Kolp's TV continued to blare a news segment discussing the ongoing temporary restraining order restricting federal immigration agents' use of tear gas.

Kolp, a former prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's office, sprang into action as he sometimes wondered he would have to do
throughout the Trump administration's
"Operation Midway Blitz" these last two months.
He didn't even have time to put on his shoes or change out of his pajamas, he said, drawing jeers from one of the agents as he screamed
"Nazis!" and "Gestapo!" at the agents.
"Quite honestly, when all this started happening, I thought to myself that if the opportunity ever came my way to have to get involved in one of these situations, I was certainly going to do what I could to make sure that they weren't openly and flagrantly violating the law or the Constitution," Kolp said. "And yet, they just went ahead and did it anyway."

When measured by census tract, 50% of US residents live on just 0.88% of the country's land. That comes out to an average density of 5,233 people per square mile (ppsm).

For comparison, Chicago's population density is about 12,000 ppsm.

A very disturbing video has emerged from today’s ICE/CBP operations in Avondale.

An officer pushes a woman to the ground, prompting bystanders to react angrily and throw what appears to be a rock at a moving unmarked vehicle.

This seems to be the new normal in Chicago.
