A family trip to Paris in August opened my eyes to what could be.
Yes, happened to me when I got to study abroad in Northern Italy. Changes your entire perspective on not just urbanism but life.

We should send more students to study abroad.

people who are new to the city or young don't realize this but when uber & lyft started taking off traffic just got astronomically worse in a period of like 3 years, all those burrito taxis and unregulated cabs really get in the way of everything

They're moving onto military bases because they intend to use the US military against its own citizens, and they need to be insulated from the results of that action.
And actually astonishing when you think about it: The Trump administration's top officials are choosing to separate themselves from the public—more to the point: separate themselves from any visible protest—and live on military bases.

¡Chinga La Migra!

Chicago street vendors are being targeted by ICE & Border Patrol agents. As a result, many are staying home and not able to work. Preorder and $8 per shirt will go towards the Street Vendors Association of Chicago who offer financial assistance to vendors who stay home.
Gorgeous morning along the lake, as long as you stay out of the splash zone
Drove without stopping from at least Belmont to North Ave
Why is a pick up with Indiana plates on the LFT?
I've already started. With gambling and the emphasis on entertainment.

I'm done

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.
As if rush hour traffic wasn't a "clusterf-" before.

Embrace public transit and traffic will improve.

Don't fund transit, traffic will get worse.

Not that hard.
Downtown, North Side bridge closures are a "clusterf—," an area alderman said. blockclubchi.co/47ywAlz

When measured by census tract, 50% of US residents live on just 0.88% of the country's land. That comes out to an average density of 5,233 people per square mile (ppsm).

For comparison, Chicago's population density is about 12,000 ppsm.

In Chicago, masked federal agents drive around in unmarked vehicles grabbing mostly brown people off the street. When others object, they’re met with violence and tear gas. Here an agent shoved a woman at full force to the ground
A very disturbing video has emerged from today’s ICE/CBP operations in Avondale.

An officer pushes a woman to the ground, prompting bystanders to react angrily and throw what appears to be a rock at a moving unmarked vehicle.

This seems to be the new normal in Chicago.
