Supercut of comments from Republicans today alone about the No Kings rallies taking place this weekend. This has to be some of the worst, and most anti-American, coordinated messaging of all time.

Whether it's Democrats standing with the Capitol Police or the Republicans standing on them, both parties have a complicated relationship with the Capitol Police.

This Supreme Court will do anything it can to ensure the end of our representative democracy.

This is a naked effort to save a racist, nihilistic, principle-free far-right minoritarian movement from disappearing from American politics by instead giving it hegemony over the United States... forever.

If the Supreme Court strikes down Section 2 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which has been interpreted to require the creation of majority-minority districts, Republicans could eliminate upward of a dozen Democratic-held districts across the South. Here's how.
The Supreme Court Case That Could Hand the House to Republicans
Democrats would be in danger of losing around a dozen majority-minority districts across the South if the court struck down part of the Voting Rights Act.

Why is no one surprised that AI, like the internet, is pandering to the lowest of our species?

So much for all the noble missions and transformations; Altman's AI is down to talking dirty now. Pretty sure it's a massive lie that they've "mitigated the serious mental health issues" and seems likely this new porn feature will generate lots more of them. Bubble, please pop.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I'm asking in good faith here as a premium user — what's the difference between adult erotica and the sexbots you said you wouldn't introduce to the platform this past July?

*it is impossible for them to do anything about blatant gerrymandering
*they are entitled to dismantle, bit by bit, the landmark civil rights law of the last century

This is good: Rep Eric Swalwell tells me House Dems are now discussing making an end to mask-wearing a precondition for ICE funding.

"When we are in the majority, the masks are coming off," he says.

This is the next frontier in anti-Trump resistance.

Then travelled to DC to get in with the Trump gang, which mocks him btw, stayed in the rich enclave like Georgetown (which is always nice) & declared it saved by the National Guard. Codswallop all. Being charitable doesn’t give you a pass to mangle the facts, esp in such a staggeringly inept way.

Netanyahu tried to dodge his court appearance by claiming a major diplomatic visit was happening today. That turned out to be false. So he showed up in court and then claimed he needed to leave and rest due to bronchitis.

Confirmed by reporters who were there.

It's a no-brainer that her appointment is invalid. So the question becomes, is the indictment (on she was the only lawyer signatory) invalid as a result—and, if so, is it too late for the Trump DOJ to remedy that problem, given that the statute of limitations ran on Sept. 30.

When I studied the Second World War I genuinely could not understand how the Germans found so many people to participate in their worst excesses. And I mean across the whole war, not just concentration camps.

I don't have a problem understanding it any more...
