I will say this again and again until the cap fetishists get it. There is a 1:1 correlation between "leagues that have broken their unions" and "leagues with a payroll cap." Let that be a clue as to who wins in a cap system.

I wonder what Jays TT under 1.5 was four batters into the game.

What a weird game that ended up being.

Another Mariners playoff game in which it feels like they should have twice as many runs as they have. We'll see if it bites them.

Leadoff doubles are the real rally killers.

Where will they put the Jorge Polanco statue?

You will pay for that Barry Bonnell disrespect.

A bullpen game backed by three solo homers. I love that for all the wrong reasons.

This is the first year since 2018 in which no wild-card team reached the LCS round. It is just the second time since 2012, when MLB added two wild cards, that the LCS round will include just division champs.

What a statement and what a night for USC.

i know they stuck a new rule in to keep guys from running into left field, but that really is a spot where Perkins has to treat it like a first-to-third rather than a force. Run through the bag and turn for third. Costs you nothing and may steal a run.

It moves the needle enough. Thanks for looking it up.

People have been complaining no one hits .300 any more…

I‘m going to write about this over the winter, but r/HR% is one of many stats we need to start calculating only in the first nine innings. It will naturally decline a lot with free leadoff doubles.

It’s not my job, but I wish baseball/Calvinball was a standard split.

Remember when not covering the spread was James Franklin’s biggest problem?

I think they’re acknowledging their collective starting pitching is as deep as a Family Circus comic.

This is part of why I like the regular season extra runner because .. in theory, extra inning games that go on very long sounds fun, but in practice, they all just start to look like *this.*

Erik Hanson starts ALCS Game One.

Tough break for the Mariners, as this game has run so long Josh Naylor has to leave for the birth of his next kid.

We’ve screwed up trade so badly we can’t even export an ALCS team to Canada.

Maybe these guys just really hate going through customs.

Porter having a laughably bad inning.

I’ve talked up Julio Rodriguez all season long. These ABs are really hard to watch.
