how come "realism" in games only applies to shit that sucks and not, for instance, the fact that most flashlights do not actually run out of batteries after 3 minutes, and good quality tools will literally outlive you if you take good care of them

This is why seeing a game describe itself as "rules light" immediately turns me off a bit from wanting to check it out. It tells me nothing, but the creator really wants to communicate *something* inscrutable with that term. And most of the time, it ends up being more "roll a die, make up the rest!"
