From Zohran Mamdani's speech: "I think of the pastor I sat with just a few weeks ago in East Flatbush. He told me how in September, a young woman from his congregation approached him after church. She told him she was facing a deportation order. He knew her well, and he knew the work she did with young people with disabilities in this city. She told him she couldn’t afford an attorney and had no one else. She asked if he would go with her to 26 Federal Plaza. He said yes.

Sitting in the courtroom, the judge told her to be ready to leave in the clothes she was wearing. He asked her if she had said goodbye to her family. She began to cry.

And then, in what felt like a miracle, the judge changed his mind. He decided he would put her Temporary Protected Status order before the deportation order. For a minute, it seemed as if the danger had passed.

From Mamdani's speech: "But the pastor knew that ICE stood outside. They did not care about a court order, because they do not care about the rule of law.

He turned to a few court watchers in the room and asked them to go outside first. He asked another man to hold the elevator. He picked up the young woman under her arms, opened the doors, rushed her past ICE agents into the elevator, and down into a waiting car before speeding off back to Brooklyn.

Through it all, her feet had never even touched the ground. He told me that it felt like the Underground Railroad. And still, he knew she was anything but safe."

HUGE victory. Nassau County (yes, New York's Nassau county) barred an adult women's roller derby team from using public facilities.... because the team included trans women.

Sports bans aren't about fairness. They're about barring trans people from public spaces. Period.

So there's a serious possibility that the Court of Arbitration looks at the FIG's own rules and goes "well, you said you would cancel World Championships" and requires them to follow through.

Again, World Championships is in *six days.* Gymnasts are already in Indonesia.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is in charge of World Championships, and they've basically been like "welp, what a bad situation for everyone" about the visa cancellations.

But their own rules state that if a host country does not issue visas, Worlds must be cancelled or moved.

So! Some additional context. The Israeli gymnastics federation brought suit to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (AKA: Sports Law) after Indonesia refused to grant them visas. They're asking for Worlds to either be canceled or moved.

Worlds starts in 6 days. It cannot move.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

"Suzanne" is the french spelling, originating in the French middle ages.

"Susan" (and variations) is the english spelling. There are more Susans than Suzannes in the United States, hence why us poor Suzannes get our names misspelled.
