Part of my trans awakening was a book called "Boys & Sex," by Wardell Pomeroy, a sex-ed book for ~teens from the 1960s. I bought it myself when I was around 10. I don't know why I rode my bike to the bookstore and bought this book; I just know I did and my mother was rather shocked about it. 1/

This is disgusting. If you're dehumanizing the person in your care, especially when they are under anesthesia, you are unfit to provide care to anyone.

The Democratic party is functionally at least two parties, with one constituency most like the Greens in the UK, or Mamdani/DSA in the U.S., and the other constituency like Labour in the UK, and trad DNC, Schumer, Buttigieg, Clinton, etc. in the U.S. What is frustrating for the former is… 1/4

Whenever we've turned back the authoritarianism, and we've successfully repelled fascism, there will be voices in the center arguing for national comity. They will want to "just get along" by forgiving/forgetting. We should not allow the relief of winning to distract us from a proper Reconstruction.

🧵 I'm not sure people in the U.S. understand the fundamental difference between public health and personal health ('healthcare') as systems. We have a massive, unwieldy, capitalist personal healthcare system that functions at a scale to look ~public. But it focuses on the individual's health. 1/

My most hard-earned insight: showing vulnerability in how we show up & relate to others is strength. Not victimhood, but statements of revealing truth. Our country is being run by weak men, who think vulnerability is weakness, who posture fake strength b/c they're too scared to be vulnerable. 1/

For the NYT and mainstream media, there are simply 2 or more contrary viewpoints on everything, reported as equally valid, and nothing more can be reported regarding the veracity, morality, or context of anything that happens.
I think society should be a heckuva lot more freaked out by AI passing as human than trans women passing as cis women.

It's toxic femininity when so-called 'feminists' argue that all women should be transvestigated if their features are perceived as masculine by anyone. Toxic femininity is having to prove your womanhood to the satisfaction of every other woman and the men they bring in to enforce their standards.
They call these women "regrettable costs" 😒

Watched a ~documentary police procedural thing on Netflix called "Missing: Dead or Alive." The last episode of the just released season featured a young trans woman. The police were pretty respectful of her gender identity, but the family consistently misgendered her while affirming.. 1/

I look at the unruly, fragmented collection of newsletters, streaming services, indy reporting, etc. I subscribe to and feel tempted to create cable tv and newspapers again from first principles.

It just baffles me that people come on social media every day to spew hate about people b/c of who those people are. If you spend all day being racist, misogynist, trans-hating, wouldn’t you at some point question your life choices? I talk about trans issues b/c I’m trans. The idea that…1/2

I cannot emphasize enough that compromisers/institutionalists who take great pains to separate themselves from activists will absolutely jump on board and take credit when the activists triumph, then start the cycle again.

I watched the entirety, and it was fascinating. What really strikes me is that Trump’s corruption and self-dealing aren’t extraordinary. What makes him uniquely destructive is his vast ability to corrupt others. He seems to continually generate more greedy people willing to be amoral for him.
Watching this, it’s clear that the press has been complicit in creating and boosting Trump since the 1980s. Burying or ignoring things that could diminish their Big Story or Access is not new.
