The loss of the northern ontario train to Matheson is also deeply saddening. I could take the train north in 8ish hours, but now a bus would be FOURTEEN HOURS (with people sitting in the aisles because there isn't enough service).

If we want tourism to increase, we need ways to encourage people to come up to visit. Even I avoid VIA rail now if I can--with their new airline-level baggage restrictions and declining quality, it's just more comfortable to take the GO trains and buses. >_>;
