Thanks, sir. I was 8 years old in 1979 in the part of Philadelphia that was closest to Bucks County, where Levittown is. It was the whitest part of Philly, where the cops lived because they had to live within city limits. I remember gas station lines but have no memory of this riot. Appreciate you.

Thanks for highlighting this. I would have been a senior in hs and remember the gas lines and every other day buying restrictions, but I have no memory of this. Levittown is about 45 mins away from me.

I was there. The steel mill in Fairless Hills (a major employer for the region) was laying off, we had gasoline shortages (could only buy gas based on the day of the week and your license plate number), and the economy was stagnant. Then the Iran hostage crisis. Working class whites had had enough.
