pretty common in portugal. gen x, on the off chance they truly don't speak english, will usually speak some french at the very least bc of schooling

Lidl recently installed cameras on its self checkout registers but presumably for privacy reasons they only capture from the neck down. The focal length and angle just happen to be flattering so every time I scan my groceries I'm always looking at it like okay body tea ig!

I type this from my 40 sq m apartment in Barcelona where I had to retrofit a bidet nozzle to my toilet so unfortunately I am deeply familiar with this struggle

it's convenient for washing off your house shoes (or flip-flops, like the Brazilians do) and very practical for sexual hygiene, among other things

standalone bidet supremacy for the added hygiene for activities unrelated to relieving yourself alone tbh they're incredibly practical for lots of things if you actually use them

Bidets are no longer required in at least one bathroom in Portugal (since 2024) and it's been a popular home renovation to remove them when modernizing bathrooms for a couple of decades so I would say the trend is roughly similar to Spain, unfortunately

here every brand including generics has oat milk now so I'm used to paying about half oatly's price and tbh the quality is fairly similar across all of them

and insofar as it exists (anywhere) in a systematic way, what is the origin and why is it marginalized in standard speech? is there information available beyond pop wisdom? there are lots of ways to check our instincts on these things.

in general the linguistics answer is: does this impede communication for real or is it just slightly different than your regular expectations? if you genuinely believe the former, does this exist in a widespread & systematic way that would disprove that? which is also the follow-up to the latter
