I apologize 😉

Come on now, you can't expect people to learn the full story before getting mad about it. This is the internet, they've got assumptions to make, priors to confirm, and virtue to display.

even if it isn’t, there’s no real benefit to attacking them instead of the growing racist threats.

“Obama allowed Fox News and the GOP to lie non-stop to the American people…”

The Constitution pretty explicitly allows Fox News and the GOP to lie non-stop to the American people. So tell me what Obama should have done & why you believe it would have changed the world.
sarcasmodemiami.bsky.social
lowering the threshold might be easier.

regardless, it’s clear the constitution is incapable of serving as the basis of the state moving forward. The institutions and culture that made it workable no longer exist & we can’t simply close Pandora’s box. But amendments are still easier.

one day i’ll post something gooder and you’ll regret something. maybe.

Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

Trump Halts Billions in Grants for Democratic Districts During Shutdown (Gift Article)
The Trump administration has frozen or canceled nearly $28 billion primarily located in Democratic-led districts, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

The Democratic leader of the Senate is so powerful & crafty that he can manipulate the system to select specific candidates for the sole purpose of ensuring he doesn’t become Senate *majority* leader.

Any news obtained at a press conference is almost axiomatically ‘not news.’ It’s repeating the rehearsed lines of professional PR. Your question is not a gotcha. Your follow-up exists purely for your own camera time.

I have no opinion about the Maine Senate primary but "my guy is a world-historic political talent, and if he gets a primary opponent this is tantamount to him being forced out of the race" is a singularly unpersuasive argument
nemoblue.bsky.social
my man, nobody is "sure to win" against Susan Collins, she is literally one of the most talented & successful Republican politicians of the last 60+ years. anyone who says ANY Democrat is a sure thing in Maine clearly has no clue what the fuck they're talking about other than their own vibes.

Either the legislature reestablishes its Art I authority, we rewrite an entirely new governing document, or we acquiesce to unconstrained executive lawlessness

Cf @unavaleable.bsky.social's point that it's apparently easier to accept the end of American democracy than the sixth party system
diabolicalengineer.bsky.social
Given that the ADA requires the executive to essentially prosecute itself in situations like this, how do we fix it going forward? Say in the example of the first 3 years of a first term. Normally the statute of limitations running into a new president would deter, but nobody seems to consider that

i most definitely need hobbies besides observing the rapid, correlated decline of journalism & democracy.

Strategists: Should we focus are message or attack broadly?

The commentariat (together): ‘YES!’

Strategists: ‘’A’ or ‘B’?’

The commentariat (together): [loud screaming]

Strategists: ‘Okay, we’ll do it this way.’

The commentariat (together): ‘NO!’
sarcasmodemiami.bsky.social
why are you people always whining about Trump’s ‘unprecedented law breaking’, ‘premeditated high-seas murder’ & ‘manifest treason?’

Aren’t there more important things for Americans to worry about? Perhaps the legacy of colonialism in SE Asia? Perhaps the risk of mis-gendering Mike Johnson?
sarcasmodemiami.bsky.social
I’m trying to remember if I was part of that conversation. The one I remember was very close to ‘I have no opinion on whether morality exists as a concept and am just reporting facts I deem important and, no, i refuse to say what makes something important.’
sarcasmodemiami.bsky.social
it’s surprising how few people care. I posted screenshots of a Democratic player advocating racist policies and essentially nobody gave a shit. It’s been years now, but people will ignore anything unless it confirms their priors.
sarcasmodemiami.bsky.social
Depends on how hard the majority leader is fellating them.

That’s why corpses lie in state.

We’re doing a ‘fuck the constitution.’. Honestly, there’s nothing *actually* stopping Trump from sending billions directly to his friends & family.

sadly (or perhaps fortunately), she’ll know I’m just trying to get her bison.

I’m a horrible husband.

All i can think of is the look on my wife’s face were she to see this on the wall at home.
