For anybody unfamiliar with the last 10+ years of housing politics in America, San Francisco legalizing 8-story apartments in most of the city including its wealthy neighborhoods (and up to 65 stories in some places!) is like PETA opening a steakhouse.

It occurs to me that there are probably a LOT of multi-millionaires who are eager to see the billionaire class destroyed because they fully grasp that billionaires are bad for democracy AND SOCIETY AND markets AND capitalism.

I’m not sure why anyone would urge people to ‘leave alone’ an unrepentant, public figure who acted unethically to support a politician who is contributing to the deaths of thousands, conservatively.

A question for college professors… if my kid asks me for feedback on their essay, how much is ethically appropriate before it crosses the line into ‘cheating.’ I give suggestions which they sometimes accept, but often don’t. Any general guidelines?

We need to finish reconstruction.
Personally, I hold Trump's base in contempt and look down on them. That will not change. Indeed, I believe should be society’s default position.
So one of my political sins that I know I should get over is that I do have the problem of holding Trump's base in contempt and looking down on them, and part of it is that my image of who they are is heavily informed by the one MAGA guy who shows up regularly on my FB feed; I'll call him J.
