Most ridiculous government legislation ever. Here's my simple solution for the folks who don't want to eat kosher food in the hospital: provide seasonings with microcrustaceans. They naturally occur in some municipal tap waters. Sprinkle some on and voilà! the food is no longer kosher. Easy peasy.

In Montréal, science in the form of Civil Engineering took a hit with the removal of Catherine Morency from the board of directors of the STM, replaced by an Ensemble Montréal partisan. She was gracious in her words, but colleagues like me are not impressed. Catherine has always been non partisan.
Scientists must learn to join larger pro-democracy and people's movements, coalitions. Our science training may not have prepared us for such work, but we can no longer sit in the safety of our labs and expect the world to get better

As @rjjago.bsky.social points out in this excellent editorial, this is not a victimless crime. And King has profited greatly from ethnic fraud: he has made an entire career from speaking for (and not just writing about) Indigenous peoples.

This is probably the most important point though:

Outremont has won the race to be the first Ensemble Montreal borough/arrondissement to remove a bike lane.
New mayor Caroline Braun didn't waste any time deciding that citizens using active transport to travel safely in her town are citizens whose safety she doesn't value.

I often wondered about this. J’ai enfin la réponse.
I hadn't given it much thoughts until now but I just learned that there is a reason why in most French-speaking countries 'eighty' is 'quatre-vingts' -- literally 'four twenties' -- and that reason is the ghostly presence of the ancient Gauls' base 20 counting system.

Is it ever nice to see the sign for the airport. My brother-in-law figured out how to cycle there to catch a flight, but taking the train is far more practical. 😁
Very open design. Deep station, but it feels light and airy—like the Elizabeth Line platforms in central #London.

If you are anywhere in the northern half of the continent, get outside and look up! Or better still, put your camera on a 10 second exposure and point it up.
