I've mostly been talking about the Trump regime's plan to dismantle NCAR, but you might be asking yourself, wtf is NCAR and why should I care? @drshepherd2013.bsky.social has got you covered here.

Grateful to Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper for taking this critical action.

We’ll continue to support their efforts every step of the way!
President Trump thinks he can intimidate Colorado by shuttering NCAR.

It’s political retribution, Senator John Hickenlooper and I won’t stand for it. We are holding up the appropriations package to demand NCAR is fully funded.

Shutting down NCAR is a terrible idea, but what a great timing to announce it while everyone's gathered in person at the annual meeting of @agu.org and joins together to stand up against it!
Awesome turnout in support of @ncar-ucar.bsky.social at #AGU25. Take a look at how many people use our products!

“Dismantling an institution so central to weather forecasting and climate change prediction would not only undermine scientific research, it would leave people across the nation less prepared for the dangers of a warming world,” says Carlos Martinez of @ucs.org www.latimes.com/environment/...

Experts say a closure of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., would leave millions vulnerable to worsening climate hazards.

If it took the We Are The World of libposting to get you to understand the concept that climate change is an opposed political fight, I'm sorry to tell you that you are sort of. The worst. I'm sorry but you're the worst. There's space for you in the big tent but please don't make eye contact with me

If Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper do not bring the Senate to a complete halt over this, blocking every Trump nominee, then they should think about quitting.

“This story is the first we have heard of any plan to target NSF NCAR, and we have already reached out to NSF to get more information.”

I am shocked to even read this. Fight back Americans. This is world class climate and weather research we expect to support with our taxes. It is non partisan. When will we stand up & repudiate him?
Damn those who are complicit with his lies, corruption, pedophilia and collusion with Russia
A deeply dangerous — and blatantly retaliatory action against Colorado — by the Trump administration.

NCAR is one of the most renowned scientific facilities in the WORLD — where scientists perform cutting-edge research everyday.

We will fight this reckless directive with every legal tool we have.

It's proably not hyperbolic to say that a visit to NCAR in 2015 is the basis for 95% of my career. NCAR is why I know anything about super computing or international research collaborations or atmospheric data collection or public interpretation. That visit is where it all came together for me.
NSF is about to dismantle NCAR at Russell Vought's direction to protect the fossil fuel industry. It's hard to communicate just how much NCAR does, so let's take a look: I've never worked at NCAR, and I've worked with NCAR researchers once ever. What scientific discoveries has NCAR made possible? 👇
