Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company, PPE Medpro, has just been ordered to refund the Government £122m from a PPE contract.

There are two very odd things about PPE Medpro that may affect the odds of the Government ever getting that £122m...

Nationwide Building Society to hike CEO pay package by 43% to £7m.

Interest on savings down. Workers won't get 43% pay rise

No sector immune to fat-cattery.

Govt says wage rises are inflationary but silence on exec pay, dividends, share buybacks.
Nationwide draws up bonus plan that could give CEO £7m payday

Very good analysis of the overcooked past record of Labour's strategy 'genius' Morgan McSweeney and the dismal failures of Starmer in office.
Like Cummings, eventually McSweeney will get the chop, but whether Labour is smart enough to do it now is doubtful.
The Founding Myth of Morgan McSweeney
Reports of Keir Starmer's chief adviser's supposed campaigning genius do not appear to match up with the facts

How would children improve transport?

This list looks good to me.

Government support for these actions is an investment in future generations, and has long term benefits for public health, communities and the environment.

Great work from Sustrans & Halfords.

"Our scheme will...
Reduce congestion and noise levels..."

The National Highways webpage still gives the cost of the scheme as £190m to £210m, but the DfT said it will now cost £290m.

@nationalhighways.bsky.social is just an open sewer funnelling money to contractors and consultants
"It can only be that National Highways is hiding the true cost of its schemes in order to get them approved, or is incredibly bad at its job. Either way it is a damning indictment of National Highways and illustrates why it should be scrapped."

Highways Magazine - M3 scheme escapes Labour's VFM review as cost soars
Ministers have claimed credit for backing a longstanding road scheme that Labour froze under its Transport Infrastructure Review, whose costs rose by around half in the meantime.

I was in Switzerland last week. 23 trains = every single one on time to within one minute.

This doesn't happen by chance.

Here's how the Swiss fund their transport infrastructure:

How To Fund Passenger Transport — Freewheeling
Transport needs long-term funding through dedicated taxes. With a spending review and the creation of GBR both happening, now’s the time to ask for it.

All of the Coroners, Marianne Johnson, comments in that article are so depressingly car-brained. Not sure how much comfort the family can draw from any of that. Poor lad.😧
That's just terrible.
Seems like Police, coroner and anyone else has done their utmost to blame the dead kid.
Stated that he was in a blind spot (buses are like wheeled greenhouses), but that hiviz could have helped. Surely driver could see him or not.
