Climate-friendly investor. That guy from the Auckland Street Choir. Quite good at following a list. He/him.
So I chatted with Jesse Mulligan on RNZ today about the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua community gardens.

What's going on at Auckland's Sanctuary Mahi Whenua Gardens?
An Auckland community is disputing the development of housing on the site of the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua Gardens. The gardens are based on the old Unitec campus site in Mount Albert and have existed for...

"Politicians in South-East Asia ignore climate change at their own political peril."

A new storm is brewing in South-East Asia. This time it's in the halls of power
Accused of incompetence and apathy in the aftermath of natural disasters, governments across Asia are facing increasing backlash as the impact of global warming intensifies.

Is Fanny Osborne our most impressive forgotten artist?
The mother of 13 lived on Great Barrier Island and did exquisite watercolour paintings of native plants in the early 1900s.

The same argument one hears all too often in both Australia and New Zealand.
If Ireland's emissions are "too small to matter" then I might as well evade my taxes and eat doughnuts for lunch.

Read my latest column about the laziest excuse in the climate debate:

‘Too small to matter’ is the laziest-possible excuse in climate debate
At a time of crisis, co-operation is the only way to resolve the climate collective-action problem

So, I'll need to update this piece I co-wrote back in 2022 re NZ's climate target and the need to buy international offsets to meet it:

NZ's $30b offsetting question: If a tree falls in an overseas forest?
Buying carbon offsets mean transferring of funds to some of the most corrupt nations in the world – there are very serious doubts about whether NZ will get what it pays for.

As a prof, I am grateful that TP published both the essay itself and the response!

Thank you so much, TPUSA, for showing the public the quality of the writing we have to grade so tactfully and impartially. I don’t think people realize just how bad it is lol
The fact that TPUSA posted the entirely reasonable comments from the instructor here as coming from the “TRANS PROFESSOR” gives away the game.

They’re not defending students, they’re targeting faculty — as always
idk not to mention how very nuanced and normal the actual response here was

Heartbreaking stories like this are surfacing everywhere at ~1.5ºC of heating.

We are firmly on track to cross 2ºC and at the current heating rate of ~0.3ºC/decade we will reach this in the next ~16 years.

We are utterly unprepared for the climate chaos this will unleash.
