Anyway, the world does not need another post dunking on Josh Barro. What it does need, is a word for the fallacy where you make up some weird stereotype about people, and then when it turns out they don't actually act that way, you think that's something strange about *them*.

Interesting issue regarding perpetuals: if you ever stop issuing them (like the city of Haarlem) you still have to service them into perpetuity. Inflation degrades the value until it can't justify the costs of maintaining a centuries-old system

Een kabinet kan alléén gevormd worden met democratische partijen die de rechtsstaat respecteren. De VVD doet dat niet. Ik heb tegen de verkenner gezegd dat daar eerst maar eens de schijnwerpers op moeten worden gezet.

This comment shifts my prior beliefs on the symbolism of the bandana (I thought it was used by farmers) and the derogatory term "redneck" (again I thought sunburnt farm-hand). Wow!

With the official prognosis giving one additional seat to PVV and one to FvD compared to the ext poll, the narrative should really not be that the Netherlands/Jetten has beaten the radical right. The far right bloc remains remarkably stable.
