Had to use KWS to verify my Bluesky account. Not happy. Choice was face verification, credit card details or gvmt doc eg passport or driver’s licence. Never heard of KWS & very pissed off. There are data breaches all the time. Can KWS guarantee that my data will be safe?

My great great grandparents were part of settling a town where Indigenous people were forced off their land. The town is 150 years old, the fish traps in the river 1,000s of years older.

A gay man from a country town once showed me the newspaper column of mine he'd kept in his wallet since (pre-socials) school; it said he was not alone & would find his people. Social media can be a lifeline for kids who're bullied, live in abusive home, or whose hobbies/interests are anti-anxiety.
A whole lot of not thinking things through with this policy.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
