I was married but I’m not married any more. Women don’t like the vehicle.
There are more shower scenes than you'd expect for a movie set in the desert

And dog flashbacks

James Mason presents King Hu with Best Director for Legend of the Mountain at the 16th Golden Horse Awards in 1979. (Everything I see from old Golden Horse Award ceremonies is wild to me)
I remember thinking this wasn't terrible

But I kinda like Craven's HILLS HAVE EYES II as well

So not the best judge of these things

This is the quality of effects work I put this movie on for
A woman with a slightly bubbly looking face and red eyes Oh no her skin is morphing away. She now has a pink face and what looks like a lipless mouth. Her red eyes nearly bulge from her face. Her hair has strangely straightened too Her face is now an eyeless red mask as she “decomposes”
DAWN OF THE DEAD
SUSPIRIA
THE BEYOND
THE BLACK CAT
Quote this with the first four Horror movies that come to your mind that are 10/10s for you. No cheating. Just the first four that pop into your head.

I'll go first:
-Silence of the Lambs
-I Saw the Devil
-Coherence
-Jaws
THE SILENT PARTNER is terrific. Christopher Plummer plays one of the scariest Canadians ever.
Christopher Plummer really does have some of the best eyes in movie history. They’re not wide like we’d usually think of for great eyes, but deep and piercing. Anyway, throwing in a shot from The Silent Partner, because everyone should see it and his performance is amazing
Closeup of Christopher Plummer in Nosferatu in Venice. He is staring past the frame, his eyes are tired and kind C Plumms in The Silent Partner. He is in a phone booth and looking up at an apartment. Everything about him is sinister
Are people getting new followers all of a sudden? I don’t think I’ve gotten any. But I was also never on Twitter.

A rad midnight movie that I'd somehow never seen before. Woulda adored DR. CALIGARI if I'd caught it as a teenager when it 1st came out. It's exactly the kind of flick I was looking for back then, disturbing and transgressive but also brightly colored and welcoming in a PEE-WEE'S PLAYHOUSE-like way
I think there’s a Bluray release but I watched a copy on Dailymotion… the transfer was mostly solid although the compression was kinda rough in some of the nighttime scenes

Uhhhh… I use it… but to describe, like, a talking cucumber or something to that effect
@surlaw.bsky.social Have you seen this? I think it’ll be up your alley.

Drew Struzan’s immaculate gift touched every level of studio filmmaking, big and small. Beyond just the classic obvious choices, every corner of his career is riddled with timeless works of art.
