“Only hours have passed since they shot a man right in front me and I don't feel like I can go home because I heard agents were looking for me. I don't know what the agents will do when they find me.”
You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Every Democratic member of Congress should be on a plane to Minneapolis right now to join the people protesting in the streets. Federal elected officials should physically place themselves between the public and these dangerous thugs sent to terrorize this American city.

sitting here trying to think why this is so heavy on my heart.

but. my grandparents survived a genocide that most people don’t know about, that many deny.

we have a duty to bear witness and tell the history. we are future ancestors. we have to know the story.
i respect a diversity of tactics in all our politics.

i believe deeply that people do need to see the fucking atrocities that are committed in the name of the state.

if you don’t, that’s fine. i respect that.

no one needs to lecture anyone or call people names.

This.
The American Indian Movement started in Minneapolis in 1968 in response to police violence against Native Americans. Today, AIM is patrolling Minneapolis streets again–to try and keep the Native community safe from ICE.

It’s astonishing to me when I see Native people defending what this administration is doing. They would not hesitate for one moment, to deliver this cruelty to you, too. In fact, our peoples are ones that should be the most familiar with this history, since it’s been that way since first contact.

This Article discusses whether the Lakota Nation still has title to the unceded territories outlined in the Treaty of 1868. While many accounts focus on the supposed diminishment of the Great Sioux Re...

truly terrifying with how vulnerable Native women especially already are.

Looks like ICE is now cracking down on … Native Americans.

This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota:

“Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”

This day - January 6th, 2021 - should've been the end of it. But rather than respect the American voters' will, the kooky far-right instigated a terrorist assault against the United States Capitol building.

Our democracy will heal from the damage this movement caused - but it'll take time. 🇺🇸

This is caused by erasure and systemic oppression.

Constantly leaving Natives out contributes to this erasure.

And almost everyone in America excludes Natives.
