The hostility to the move can IMO be boiled down to 2 related points:
1. DCU fans have no trust in anyone at the club to make a good move. That's gonna take years to fix.
2. When DCU spends 7 figs, they've bought at several career value peaks. This deal feels like, for example, Edison Flores.

Biggest thing still to solve for #DCU in 2026 will be chance creation. Baribo does nothing to solve. At least one of the new DPs should go toward solving this problem.
Should be a lil concerned about a CF that can't dribble or pass playing on a *probably* bad team, me thinks

At this point... maybe it is time to just have free agency for all.

#DCU could have exercised his option and kept him on his academy deal. What is weird is they released him and the annouced they were in negotiations to re-sign him.
Kristian Fletcher posted a goodbye message on his Instagram.
Not sure how to feel about his time with DCU.
He was injured or out on loan most of the time and was just kind of "there" when he wasn't.
Also not a true homegrown DCU player.
Not sure how much DCU did to develop him though.

Ted and I both love Benteke on a TAM deal if it’s possible.
As expected, D.C. United declines Christian Benteke’s contract option, making him a free agent, but “we remain in discussions regarding a potential return.”
