Anyone who says "you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs" neglects the necessity of those eggs to be broken in a specific, acceptable way that allows them to be used to full effectiveness.

If you throw your eggs against a wall, you aren't making an omelet. You're just wasting eggs.

When we write or draw porn or erotica, we get banned from having a bank account and our livelihoods get seized even if we give it away for free.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I am obviously not old enough to have actually played this game in an actual arcade, but I did have an arcade machine emulator on the family computer when I was a kid, and this was one of the games it had.

If you want one that's *really* obscure, there was a 1982 Taito arcade game known as Jungle King (later renamed to Jungle Hunt). The last level has a damsel in distress dangling by some vines over a giant cooking pot. She's very pixelated and has, like, two frames of animation, but still.

And speaking of, the Shantae series had a few semi-examples that I'm sure you're already familiar with, like the mermaid factory and Giga Mermaid from Half-Genie Hero (although you're not rescuing the latter, you're fighting her as she struggles in the background)

Way back in the 3DS days, there was a small eShop game called Mighty Switch Force, made by WayForward (the same guys who do Shantae). You weren't rescuing anyone, exactly; they were escaped criminals and you were recapturing them. But they had handcuffs and chains and cute idle animations.
