It’s such a weird, confusing feeling to have, and I don’t even understand it myself. This vampire, and the fandom have made me feel more happy/welcomed than I’ve been in any other fandom community before and yet, I still don’t feel like I should be here at times.

I legitimately feel out of place here sometimes, and have big feelings about it lately. Like, to the point I sometimes feel like throwing out my Tavstarion ship and disappearing, because I feel I’m doing something wrong. I feel self-conscious when I yap about them, or even drawing smut these days.

Zutara was my very first real ship, and meant a lot to me. If I had known the creators of a show/characters I loved to shipped publicly made fun of my art like that, it would have totally devastated me, and I might have quit art all together, had it been me.

It’s totally okay to feel disappointed! We still share our art to be seen by others after all, and it can hurt when it doesn’t quite land in the way we hoped, especially if it’s a piece you worked extra hard on, and are proud of!

It’s completely okay, and normal to feel this way! I struggle with it all the time.

You can do art for the fun and love of it, while also hoping for engagement for your hard work. Two things can be true at the same time!
