Sadly, I overdid it using my busted foot these past few days and I have to stay off of it today, but I’m with the New Orleans no kings Palestinian liberation contingent in spirit #nokings #freePalestine #UnitarianUniversalist
New Orleans UUs say No Kings! Join us Saturday, October 18, at 3:30 on the Lafitte Greenway.
Gather at the Lemann Swimming Pool mural (corner of N Prieur & Lafitte) at 3pm to walk together to the rally on the great lawn.
Bring signs & wear yellow! #uuSky #nolaSky #UnitarianUniversalist #NoKings

Maybe my favorite living artist. Her silhouette exhibition at 21C here in Louisville years-- like 15+ yrs-- ago blew my mind.

(Fun fact: After I saw the exhibit, one night I got tipsy and painted a floor-to-ceiling silhouette of a tree in my living room. 🤷‍♀️ As you do. I guess. Still there.)
Charlottesville finally took down its Confederate monuments in 2021.

The statue of Robert E. Lee was melted down.

The statue of Stonewall Jackson was given to artist Kara Walker.

This is what she did with it:

Breathtaking, unsettling, healing: a new exhibit by Black US artists transforms Confederate monuments
The sweeping exhibition Monuments opens in Los Angeles on 23 October and is on view through May

Protests in New Orleans are always so joyful - bands, costumes, props, dancing. Between that and the Portland anthropomorphic inflatables, this country is adopting the best of the weirdest.

It's really good to counter the administration's lies but let's put a big asterisk next to acting like the arrest decisions of a police department are indicative of a truth. The flip side of this is that those being arrested trying to defend their neighbors from ICE are "Hamas terrorists etc"
Karoline Leavitt on what she expected for today’s demonstrations: “Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, violent criminals.”

Scott Bessent: “Most unhinged in the Democratic Party”

Mike Johnson: “The pro-Hamas wing, the antifa people.”

NYPD: More than 100,000 protesters; zero arrests.

Folks not from Louisiana - this is Scalise's district, one of the reddest counties (called parishes here) in the country.
Red Hammond Louisiana showed up!

Across the world!

Live your life so people across the world don’t come out to protest your ass!
If ten million people across the country skipped football, grilling, puttering around the house to come out in public to specifically say they hated me, I would probably feel pretty bad.

I can't *show* you the shit my mom texts me. Like it's risky to post that shit on the internet. She is a former Republican
every smug internet communist tweet about showing up to a No Kings protest with an abolish ICE shirt to scare the libs is getting completely mogged by the real-life winemoms showing up with slogans like "ICE will melt in hell"

Home from the New Orleans protest. No pics, because we didn't bring phones and were in costume. Shout out to the thousands of New Orleanians I saw out there.

Special thanks to Skeeta Hawk Brewery for serving the people and giving discounts to those in costumes. They busted their arses to serve us.

I still think it's confusing. Like, how many frogs am I supposed to care about now?
MSNBC Grandmas in Skechers seamlessly reclaiming the frog from 4chan Nazis in about six weeks has gotta be the political upset of the century.
